STUDENT LIFE

There are nearly 1,800 graduate students enrolled at Brown University. The majority are pursuing doctoral degrees, while approximately 400 are in master's programs. Roughly a third of Brown graduate students are of international origin, and our domestic students come from all corners of the country.

Brown offers unparalleled educational and research opportunities to its graduate students. Its classrooms, library system, technology, and campus facilities provide a secure, academically challenging environment in which students are given the tools they need to succeed. The University and the city of Providence provide an environment in which students can make the most of their time outside of the classroom and laboratory, sharing rich academic, social, and cultural experiences.

Home to a thriving arts community, museums, award-winning theaters, and a rich diversity of neighborhoods, the city of Providence is widely regarded as one of the U.S.'s most successful examples of urban renewal, a renewal in which Brown has played a significant role.
